Ted Cox has been building and racing hot rods and drag cars in Southern California since the late fifties. It's his hobby! In 1991 he purchased a new Dodge Stealth (same as a Mitsubishi 3000 GT) because of its streamlined body and low coefficient of drag. He modified the non-turbocharged V6 engine and added a nitrous oxide system -- and the car became a 12 second/103 MPH quarter mile sleeper! Many of the owners of fast cars Ted "blew off" Friday night grudge racing said things like, "Ted, your Stealth runs more like a V10 Dodge Viper than a V6 Stealth!" The little V6 was fast and very quick ... so he named it "JrViper".

Years later when Ted moved to Utah, he decided to turn the car into a Bonneville Salt Flats racer -- with the goal of going over 200 mph on the salt in his Stealth. Ted mounted the body on a special Art Morrison chassis designed to Ted's specifications. The engine was built by Thunder Custom Auto and puts out 825+ dyno horsepower! The car has a 4L80E automatic 4 speed transmission built for Ted by Phoenix Transmission, coupled to a heavy-duty Ford 9 inch rear end built by Yukon -- running 2.47 gears. In 2018, the car was wind tunnel tested by Darko Technologies and a number of modifications were made to decrease drag and improve stability at over 200 mph.

Ted has run the car three consecutive years, 2017, 18 and 19 at Bonneville. The car has been inspected and certified by SCTA tech experts each year and is approved to run at speeds over 250 mph -- by a qualified driver. It has all the required safety equipment, construction, heavy duty Wilwood disc brakes, Goodyear Landspeed tires, Stroud parachute system, etc. Ted says the car runs "straight as an arrow" at 200 plus!

Why is Ted Selling the Car?

Ted is 80+ years old, and has some health problems but, and most importantly, he has ACHIEVED HIS GOAL of designing and building the car and then SAFELY going over 200 mph on the Salt -- and now he is ready to move on to other projects. So, he is willing to sell the car. Although he did all the fabrication himself, he has over $75,000 in materials and high performance parts in the car but is willing to sell his "baby" to a serious racer who will make a reasonable offer for his Stealth. The SCTA record for this class is 252.9 MPH -- he would like to see someone break this record with this car. The car is definitely capable of 260 MPH plus!
